Serving our friends is an experience only God can give. Handing plates or serving in the line, a smile and a meal goes a long way in the effort to make the world a better place.
CLEANING
Washing dishes and keeping things clean while the cook is preparing the meal, to arriving at 11:45 to clean afterwards, we have the need for sanitizing daily. Dishes, surfaces, tables, chairs and floors, are ready for someone to help get ready for the next day after a ton of activity prepping and cooking.
Those who have been serving all morning would be extremely grateful!
COOKING
After you have served for a while in the serving line, an opportunity may come for you to cook the entire meal if you desire to! Cooking requires times vary as early as 8:30am depending on the length of time to prepare a meal.
Simply assisting the cook at the times they request is also an option!
PANTRY & PRODUCE
Big needs! Able bodies with strong backs for lifting.
Opportunities include:

Loading groceries to our guests vehicles

Sorting and organizing produce- non perishables

Sorting and organizing pantry items- perishables

Helping with our produce and pantry while our guests shop

Sorting stock buildings from time to time

DONATE SERVICES
If you are a professional and are able to help our friends with needs such as medical, dental, cosmetology and social needs, or if you are blessed with skills that help the elderly please give us a call and let us know how you can help.

Change a life through Jesus House Odessa's Team Good Program! Participants are students just like you that donate goods for the wellbeing of others out of the goodness of their hearts.
Anyone needing hours for any school organization are able to receive them for food or designated items donated to the Jesus House Odessa Soup Kitchen. Whether baked yourself or bought, our guests enjoy a meal anyone would love.
Please consider partnering with us to help someone who may need something that most of us take for granted... A MEAL.
Its easy! BAKE, MAKE OR BUY!
Delivery- Mondays- Thursdays 9am - 2pm or call for other times convenient for you
1 Hour for each
1 frosted cake, any flavor
or 1 cake mix and 1 can of frosting
1 Dozen cookies
1 Pound ground beef
1 Box, 100 hot dogs
1 pound of one of these:
Macaroni noodles
Spaghetti noodles
Minute Rice
Margarine or Butter
1 Dozen eggs
1 gallon cans of any one of these:
Green beans
Corn
Mixed veggies
Baked beans
Ranch style beans
Chili
Diced tomatoes
Nacho cheese
1 Family size can mild Rotel or Tomato sauce

CARING PEOPLE!
We understand the impact the body of Christ has on one another and that they love to help those who need it. We also understand that sometimes the body of Christ can become enablers without realizing it. We ask that you please take the time to read these guidelines and also abide by them. Our goal is to help our Transitional Program residents stay on course so that they can graduate and completely finish the program. Accomplishing what they started out to do will give them self esteem as they get out on their own.
With God’s guidance, finishing the program will be an accomplishment
that many of them have never experienced in life.

For helping us to accomplish our goals and serve our friends and for your heart to minister to those in need! Done correctly and with care, they are sure to be healed and whole for the rest of their lives.
GIFTS
Gifts of any type, no matter how large or small, MUST be brought to the director for approval and given at a scheduled time and place. This applies to everyone, family and friends alike. NEVER give a resident money for any reason. They are taken care of very well in the program, and should not need money for anything. Part of the program is that they learn to live by managing what they have and obtaining what they need with integrity and in the correct way.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
When tasks are available, COMMUNITY SERVICE hours may be obtained at Jesus House Odessa by helping in various ways depending on what is needed most on the day you come. Monday through Thursdays, 9:30am- 12:30pm there may be opportunities including washing dishes, and serving, sorting donations, lawn care, or cleaning inside or out all go along with the daily operations and are much needed. Receiving hours in this way is also a blessing for others as well as yourself. Keep in mind, this may include heavy lifting. If you would rather make a non-tax deductible donation for your hours, you can do that by choosing "Community Service Hours" in the Fund Dropdown of the donation process. See the DONATE tab for this option. We are not able to accept sex offenders or violent offenders.
